Easter, St Nicholas' Church

We have two beautiful churches in our villages:  St Nicholas, Hintlesham and St Margaret & All Saints, Chattisham, which are part of the Benefice of Elmsett with Aldham, Hintlesham, Chattisham and Kersey, in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich.

The churches are generously supported by the charitable organisation, The Friends of Hintlesham with Chattisham Churches, and runs the Discovery Group for pre-school children and babies, and an annual Holiday Club in the summer for children in the parish.  For more information, click on links.

The Lay Ministry Team hopes that many of you would like to use Advent as a time of reflection on the true meaning of Christmas and have the following on offer:
Living Advent is a series of readings in a small booklet beginning on 1st December. Each day looks at one from a collection of nativity scenes, with a reflection on some of the messages conveyed, some questions to stimulate personal thought & concludes with a Bible reading.

There will also be a group meeting from 2.30-4.00pm at Suffold, Chattisham on Wednesdays 6 & 13 Dec for any who would like to discuss their reflections as well as Celtic Evening Prayer with an Advent focus in Chattisham church at 6pm on 6 & 13 December.   All welcome.   Booklets at £1 per copy from Margaret L:  652210/

And Posada, something for the younger generation
What is Posada all about? During the evenings leading up to Christmas Day, a nativity set of Mary and Joseph will travel on a roster basis visiting a different family with young children around Hintlesham & Chattisham every night. This symbolises the long journey Mary & Joseph made from Nazareth to Bethlehem. The night Mary and Joseph 'stay' provides a great opportunity to invite guests around to share together the true meaning of Christmas.

We are close to our target for the repair work to St Nicholas Church roof, but need your help to cover a shortfall of £10,000.

Please would you buy a roof tile (or more than one!)? At only £10 each, you could help save this historic building which holds so many memories of our village life.

Please contact Jenny Cox on 652466 or Cathy Leney on 652123
