CHURCH OF ENGLAND
We have two beautiful churches in our villages: St Nicholas, Hintlesham and St Margaret & All Saints, Chattisham, which are part of the Benefice of Elmsett with Aldham, Hintlesham, Chattisham and Kersey, in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich.
Church information and services can be found on the website.
The churches are generously supported by the charitable organisation, The Friends of Hintlesham with Chattisham Churches, and runs an annual Holiday club in the summer for children in the parish. For more information, click on links.

HINTLESHAM WAR MEMORIAL
Hintlesham War Memorial has recently undergone restoration in time for the 100th anniversary of the end of the Great War. For more information on this and the stories of those whose names appear on this memorial and the one in Chattisham Church, go to: www.hintleshamwarmemorial.com
Remembrance Service
A service of Remembrance was held at St Nicholas Church on 11th November to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, including a very moving presentation in memory of the 30 men from our two villages who lost their lives. A film of this is now available on the war memorial website (above).
Chattisham Church Restoration Update
We have not been able to continue with repairs in recent years, originally because structural engineers were monitoring the walls to measure how successful we had been in slowing down movement along the south side. Then some of the funds that we had available and earmarked for Chattisham were urgently required to pay VAT on repairs to the church roof in Hintlesham because it was leaking. Happily that work is now finished, the VAT will be returned, and so we can turn our attention again to Chattisham.
Thanks to the huge efforts of the Friends and local generosity we do have around £30,000 but we will need more even just to carry out essential repairs. Grants might be available, but they are usually easier to justify if the plans include ideas to use the church more than the current one hour a fortnight.
